AIDS35 Exhibits: Coordinating Events Across Programs

This year marks two AIDS anniversaries: the 35th anniversary of the first published reports of what would come to be called the “AIDS” epidemic, and the 20th anniversary of the introduction of protease inhibitors and other antiretroviral medications that turned a death sentence into a manageable, chronic infection.

To mark this anniversary, three programs across the University of Connecticut have collaborated in exhibits: UConn’s Archives and Special Collections, the university’s William Benton Museum of Art, and the School of Nursing.

With no budget but plenty of “sweat equity” among the collaborators, this coordinated effort demonstrates interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation.
